Priests Replaced By Machines

I am worried, having read the following report in The Shanghaiist, that many of my Church of England colleagues will soon be joining me in the ranks of the long-term unemployed.

"The future has landed in the form of a chubby robot monk unveiled at Beijing's Dragon Spring Temple earlier this week. Developed with the help of artificial intelligence experts, “Xian’er” is able to sense his surroundings and answer deep questions about Buddhism."

Surely it is only a matter of time before the bishops of the Christian churches decide that robot priests are a cheaper alternative to the real thing far and less likely to publicly disagree with them.
