Passing Thoughts Of A Mad Priest

In a church service, if the presiding minister feels the need to introduce and explain every part of the liturgy it means one of two things. Either the liturgy or the presiding minister are not fit for purpose.

  1. In other words the point of each element should be self-evident. It would have been in most ancient pagan liturgies, and I would guess in western Christianity up to around the 8th century when they continued to use Latin after most people could no longer understand it. Now, instead of that, we have The British Standard Church Service, and whatever you’re doing you have to have two bible readings, a collect, intercessions and a couple of hymns.
