The Super Bowl being scheduled on a Sunday is conclusive proof that in the USA insularity trumps making a buck. Any other country would schedule such a major sporting event on a Saturday so that coverage could be sold around the world and watched by people in all time zones without the inconvenience of having to get up early to go to work. This year's Super Bowl was aired on UK TV after midnight. No doubt only insomniacs and people so committed to the sport that they would take a day off work for it, watched it. Perhaps if the big matches were played on a Saturday American football would be followed by more people outside of the United States. In time it might even become a proper sport like cricket, rugby union and real football.
