I notice that it is often the case that when the Bible worshipping, mega-church, hate anything different brigade talk about being a pastor they refer to it as shepherding. Jesus, on the other hand, is the shepherd of his sheep. Is there a difference? Yes, I think there is. Shepherding creates visions of people being pushed around, forced to go where they are told to go. Being a shepherd to the sheep implies servanthood to the sheep, which is, of course, completely compatible with other titles for Jesus found in the New Testament. So it would appear that, for once, the Bible worshipping, mega-church, hate anything different brigade are being honest about how they view their congregations or, as they are more properly referred to, their meal tickets.
