MANY A TRUE WORD ISSPOKEN IN SIGN LANGAUGE

From THE EXPRESS:

The BBC was yesterday criticised by groups for the deaf over a string of blunders in its TV subtitles. One error cropped up when a reporter at a farm told how the pigs “love to nibble anything that comes into the shed, like our wellies”. Unfortunately, the subtitles changed the last word to “willies”.

Other gaffes in the live computer-generated captions have been the Ireland rugby team described as “Island” and Dr Rowan Williams as the “arch bitch of Canterbury”.

COMMENT: Well, there was the Jeffrey John incident. The Grand Tufti certainly got her claws out on that occasion.
