Pakistani Newleyweds Banned From Partying

Religious leaders from Jamrud, in the Khyber region of Pakistan, have told local clerics not to solemnise marriages when the ceremony is to be followed by a music and dance party. The leaders claim that music and dance parties, mostly involving transgender persons, were arranged at most of the wedding ceremonies in Ghundi area which was against the teachings of Islam and local tribal traditions. They said that dance performance by transgender persons, mostly brought from outside Jamrud, had been spreading obscenity among the area youth.
