I see that Cori Gauff, the kid who beat Venus Williams in a game of tennis yesterday, wants, most desperately, to be the greatest. What a vain and worthless ambition. The desire to do great things is admirable and beneficial to society but the desire to be greater than other people is of no benefit to anyone, not even to those who crave glory as they are destined to be defeated eventually, by age, by illness, by death or by somebody else whose dream is to be regarded as better than other people.

"There is none good but one, that is, God." Therefore, we might as well relax and be content to be equal in his sight.
