At the FA Cup final on Saturday, the players and the fans should wear black
armbands and there should be a minutes silence before the game begins.
This chant is ubiquitous at all levels of English football and has been for as
long as I can remember. Heck, we even used to sing it up the Hotel End at
the Cobblers’ ground back in the 1970s whilst, yet again, we were being
knocked out by non-league Enfield Town in the early stages of the FA Cup.
Ah, well. Que Sera Sera, as my mother used to say.
