Liberals in England have embraced global capitalism, mainly because they can afford to and it is advantageous for them to do so.
Those who have been left behind by globalisation cannot afford to take advantage of being world citizens. All they are left with is their national identity.
The irony is that liberals think they are the good guys but, in fact, it is their selfishness, arrogance and willingness to condemn the working class to the scrapheap in their pursuit of an ideology that favours only them, that has created the era of the superrich and the instability that this has created in the world.
The enemy of the poor is not the rich (although it should be), the enemy of the poor is the reasonably well-off (although it should, most certainly, not be).
