Passing Thoughts Of A Mad Priest

If you have a leaky tap in the bathroom you do not mention everything else that is faulty in your house to the plumber who has come to fix it. So why are we expected to admit every bad thing that has ever been done anywhere in the world whenever we complain about a specific bad thing going on the present? Are we supposed to preface every complaint with, "Of course, we have done the same in the past," (citing every example) or, as we are all from the same fallible species, can we not just take that as read?
