The most important job in British politics is being the opposition. The election of Jeremy Corbyn as the new leader of the Labour Party is not about, and should never have been about, winning the next election. Heck, that's almost five years away. The election was about winning the debates which will take place in Parliament between now and the next election. Jeremy Corbyn is not a leader who is to be hidden away for the next five years to be brought out only when the next election is announced, he is a leader for today. Personally, I don't believe that Corbyn would win a general election if it was held today. But I am confident that he will be a very good position to do so after he has hounded the forces of uncaring capitalism for five years with the weapons of integrity, passion, intelligence and disarming smile.
