Passing Thoughts Of A Mad Priest

That some believe that there is no female (or male) part of the Godhead is simply down to the scholastic inheritance we have received. The Biblical record shows clearly that the divine was most definitely allotted gender that reflected its personality, even by Jesus. We would be inventing a different religion if we make our god(s) genderless or pan-gender. In my opinion it would be better to sort out our attitudes towards gender and free the personal pronoun from the baggage of past tyranny.

  1. “The Biblical record shows clearly that…”

Oh dear. To YOU, MP, to you. The “Biblical record shows clearly” something different to each and every reader/hearer of the Bible. Anglican Biblical hermeneutical principles are clear that… ;-p

    • Bollocks, JCF. As I don’t believe the Bible is the word of God I don’t have mess around with disingenuous hermeneutics and trying to convince myself that things written in the Bible mean the exact opposite of what they plainly say. If you want to believe God the Father is a mother just do it. But don’t bother trying to persuade people of your beliefs using the Bible because the Bible was written by people who believed God was a bloke.
