Today I am feeling very British. Not in a "Rule Britannia" sort of way, I despise that sort of tribal patriotism, but in a one big family on our little patch of land sort of way. Yes, I know this is an unrealistic understanding of the situation and we will be back to squabbling with each other like children in a schoolyard before very long but, heck, I'm going to enjoy the warm, fuzzy feeling while I can.
Politically nothing will be the same again and I embrace the possibilities for a fairer United Kingdom that must bring, but geographically my world is as it has always been and I am so relieved. Next time I'm walking on the mountains of Scotland I will still be walking on our mountains. I am so happy.
