Up Hill And Down Dale With The MadGang

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWe have just spent a very wet weekend visiting the exceedingly quaint village of Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales. Even by Yorkshire standards the rain has been excessive.

We did manage to complete a walk across the fields from Hawes and uphill to the hamlet of Sedbusk then along the lane and downhill to Hardraw and a well deserved pint at the Thirteenth Century inn, The Green Dragon before the heavens well and truly opened and drenched us to the skin. The journey back across the fields beside the languid River Ure to where our caravan was parked was almost a swim rather than a ramble.

  1. I was in the day, a for real hippie. I am told by friends that when I wear wireframe glasses (usually readers at this age!) I am an image of an old hippie. So I am wondering what the nice person who put the sign up thinks when he / she says, “hippie?”

Nice pictures! I so wish we could visit England. Ah well.

    • The great thing about the UK is that we have every type of scenery you can think of (including desert if you count Dungeness) in a space the size of one of your larger cities.

    • Yes, there are exotic bicycles everywhere in the Dales at the moment because the Tour De France passed through here a few weeks back. Fortunately it’s all over now. They closed the roads and everything – how inconvenient! Just for a bunch of scrawny arsed men on pushbikes.

  2. I love these pictures. Much love to Quiz and Mrs. Madpriest and for course to Jonathan, I love especially the little bridge #8

  3. Ah two years ago we sat in that very inn soaked to the skin because of a heavy downpour. On the whole though I think we fared better weather-wise than you.
    Love the photoof Quiz. 🙂
