UR Wot U Speak

I think the English have lost the love of language and the delight in playing with language that they enjoyed from before the time of Shakespeare until, probably, about WWII. We have condensed English used in everyday speech to such an extreme extent that we are no longer able to say exactly what we mean. Newspeak has become our linguistic reality and even if the novel is not quite dead, poetry certainly is.
