The MadGang Go To The Falkirk Wheel – April 2014

An Easter Sunday visit to the Falkirk Wheel which lowers boats on the Union Canal down to the Forth and Clyde Canal and vice versa. This was followed by a walk up the hill to the site of the Roman Rough Castle Fort on the Antonine Wall. Then back down with a panoramic view of the Ochil Hills, in front of us, through Roughcastle Community Woodland to the top of the Wheel and the mouth of the Rough Castle Tunnel. The horse sculpture is a miniature version of one of the Kelpies which can be found nearby at an attraction called The Helix.

  1. I’m sorry, but that wheel looks absolutely terrifying. If I ever had to ride it I would have to be heavily sedated – or inebriated.

  2. I also love, and look forward to, photos of Mad Gang walks…and, of course and especially, of your beautiful pups.

  3. That’s hilarious! Anyway, that wheel is a fantastic-looking machine! I had never heard of it, so thank you for expanding my horizons and sharing the delightful photos.
