God Is Football Crazy

A poll taken earlier this month in the USA by the Public Religion Research Institute found that 22 percent of respondents believe God plays some role in the outcome of sporting events. In its sampling of 1,011 adults, the Washington, D.C.-based organisation found that 26 percent of respondents pray for God’s intervention to help their team and that 48 percent completely or mostly agreed that God rewards athletes who have faith with good health and success.

Of course, the truth is that praying for God to fix it for your team to win is a complete waste of time. God is on the side of the English team in every instance, in particular, Newcastle United Football Club. And why not as it's God's local team? One thing is for absolute certain, you won't catch God taking any interest in that phoney football game they play in the USA. What do you think God is? A wuss?

  1. I’m sorry to disagree with you MP, but God is a baseball fan, baseball being a game of nuance and grace (except maybe for all the spitting and crotch grabbing).
