From THE GUARDIAN:
A UK Independence party councillor has claimed that Britain's recent storms and floods are "divine retribution for the government's decision to legalise gay marriage. David Silvester, who defected from the Tories in protest at David Cameron's support for same-sex unions, claimed he had warned the prime minister that the legislation would result in "disasters". The Henley-on-Thames councillor said that the country had been "beset by storms" since the passage of the new law on gay marriage because Cameron had acted "arrogantly against the Gospel".
Blaming the prime minister for the bad weather, he added: "It is his fault that large swaths of the nation have been afflicted by storms and floods. He has arrogantly acted against the Gospel that once made Britain 'great' and the lesson surely to be learned is that no man or men, however powerful, can mess with Almighty God with impunity and get away with it for everything a nation does is weighed on the scaled of divine approval or disapproval."
I think it very likely that Mr Silvester is a "bad ol' putty tat" (with a "w" more than likely). He is a homophobe. But is he an antichrist? Surely that's a case of me being as over the top as he is being.
No. This silly man is an antichrist because what he is saying in his letter is completely the opposite to the teaching of Jesus Christ about God the Father. The nasty, little man is anti the Christ and anti the gospel of Christ.
The only way he could be right in his assessment of the situation is if Marcion was right and there is a good God of the New Testament and an evil god of the Old Testament or some other gnostic explanation for why god appears to do abominable things to the earth's inhabitants is the true way of things. In which case David Silvester worships the bad god, the demiurge and most certainly not the God of Love that Jesus would have us worship.
On the other hand he might be just an ignorant coward of a man who has never read the gospels in his miserable, hate fuelled life.
