... should be good for the inclusive minded goose.
From WALES ONLINE:
Leading Welsh Labour peer Baroness Morgan has attacked the Church in Wales’ policy of continuing to ordain priests who do not believe women should be admitted to the priesthood. Speaking in a personal capacity, the former MEP called for churchgoers who support female leadership to be provided with an “alternative priest” at communion services.
She said, “Why is it that we bend over backwards to accommodate priests who disagree with the policy, but the church does nothing to accommodate communicants like me? I am frankly not in a state of grace, but a state of severe agitation, if receiving communion from a priest who does not agree with women being ordained.
“Yes you can throw your theological arguments at me, that when you are a priest the ‘person’ of the priest disappears, but that, I am afraid, does not convince me. I am as offended as the clergy who disagree with the policy. The church should provide people like me with an alternative priest for communion and not force me to change parish. Why does compromise only work for those employed and paid by the church and not for the church’s parishioners who voluntarily attend? I want to receive communion from someone who does not look down on people who may aspire one day to become a priest. Why are the concerns of the priests always put before the concerns of their congregations? Priests must understand, she said, “their congregation also have their own values which should be respected.”
