Our longstanding friend and supporter, Janis, said “au revoir” to her beautiful and faithful canine friend, Quiubo, on Tuesday. She wrote the following on her Facebook wall:
I have never felt so desperately sad, but he is no longer in pain. I hope ol’ Jack greeted him and showed him where the bacon-covered-peanut butter is. I buried him in Mom’s center flower bed. Gleason is confused and anxious. Bruno is snoozing. I will probably nap too and hope that eases the tears. David’s and my hearts are broken.
A good many of us around here know exactly how Janis and David feel. You never get used to it, you never forget the pain and thank God we don’t.
Last Easter I stole a photo of Quiubo from one of Janis’ online photo albums and gave it an apt, if somewhat predictable, caption. Here is the old boy as all his friends will remember him.
I don’t believe in rainbow bridges and all that soppy stuff. I simply believe in the resurrection of the body – the resurrection by God of everything that God has created or brought into being one way or another. So, rest in peace, sweet Quiubo, and rise in glory!
