A HIERARCHY OF THOSE WORTH REMEMBERING

The BBC is still going on about the Boston Marathon bombings and there seems to be another minutes silence being announced every other minute. Yet we have heard nothing about the Waco explosion since the day after it happened. I think we prefer to remember the tragedies that we are certain we are not to blame for.

A HIERARCHY OF THOSE WORTH REMEMBERING — 3 Comments

  1. Nor those who die because of racism, greed, religious hatred, every day. This is a show piece, now. They aren’t grieving – just following the trend.

  2. Yes, the explosion in Waco was the result of lax regulation, the possible poor training of the local Fire Deparment, and bad planning in having such a plant in the midst of a residential area.

It’s so much easier to focus on the sin of one or two individuals than that of the collective populace.

  3. Also there’s the fact that it’s easier to incite fear of the anonymous Muslim waiting to strike than of bad city planning. And fear makes for more viewers.
