From THE HERALD:
Christians could be forced out of job roles in the future because of their beliefs, said former Conservative minister, Ann Widdecombe, during a speech in Plymouth. The Roman Catholic convert said: "If you are a Christian then I believe that in the future there will be things that you just will not be able to do.
That would put Christians in exactly the same position as all those Roman Catholic theologians and priests who have lost their jobs over the years, sacked by the Roman Catholic hierarchy because of their beliefs.
The National Catholic Reporter published a list “of Catholic theologians and others disciplined by the Vatican during the papacy of John Paul II.” JPII’s enforcer was none other than Joseph Ratzinger. The names on the list include some of the most brilliant thinkers in the church.
There’s a similar list for the Anglican diocese of Newcastle in England. Only one name on the list but, again, one of the most brilliant thinkers in the church.
Alas…the loss to the diocese of one brilliant mind is one too many.
I notice the Romans never tried to encourage you back, either. I wonder why 🙂
Isn’t it obvious?
Yes. You never do as you are told. 🙂
Thanks heavens I didn’t. I’d have made more of a damned fool of myself than I have doing my own thing.
Encourage her back? I believe the RCC fortified the battlements to keep her out! (“If She-Who-Must-Never-Be-Named gets back in, she’ll be running the place—starting w/ a top to bottom cleaning w/ hydrochloric ACID—in 5 seconds flat!”)
