MORE THOUGHTS ON THE COLORADO SHOOTINGS

I would never argue with the validity of the emotions and reactions of the injured and those close to the injured and killed following such wanton acts of violence as the one in the Colorado cinema the other week. To do so would be crass in the extreme. But I am suspicious of the aggressive emotions and reactions of those in society not directly involved. Maybe it is that part inside of themselves which is capable of committing such an atrocity that they really want to kill. By removing the monster "out there" maybe they believe they are removing the monster within. Which would mean they don't have to acknowledge the monster within's existence, let alone face up to it and deal with it.

I know my monster. Sometimes it causes me big problems (although nothing illegal, as yet). But I have found that, if acknowledged it can be tamed and that I can use it in my quest to do good.

  1. This is why God’s grace is available to all with no restrictions.

If just one person is beyond redemption then so are we all.
