Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, could not offer or achieve our redemption in any other manner than supporting Jesus Christ in his role in that task, and that is something everyone can do if they choose to. This is because it is only the injured party who has the authority to redeem. In respect of our salvation history the injured party is God alone. In respect of our salvation history when we injure others we are injuring that which belongs to God and, therefore, injuring God. It does not matter how innocent or guilty Mary was she was only ever the mother of the God who was sinned against. The only way Mary could be co-redemptrix is if she is God. And she is not God. If she was God then the incarnation is ineffective. The Word would not have been made flesh and he would not have been able to redeem us.
