The Prayer List is a daily feature at OCICBW... with an option to light a candle as you pray. If anybody has any concerns they would like included on tomorrow's list please email me with details or leave your request in the comments to this post. I will include relevant photos if provided.

Posted (yesterday) by Vendr at AVAILABLE LIGHT:

Last night I became a grandfather. Naomi Yin-Leng was born to my daughter in law Charmayne and son Nick in Sydney at around 11 pm our time, and suddenly the world is no longer the same.

Posted by Di at THE KITCHEN DOOR:

I offer up a loud, happy, "THANKS BE TO GOD!!!!!"

A friend's husband has returned from deployment. Hallelujah. Welcome home, Joe.

Our friend, WITH A SONG IN MY HEART, is still having problems with her health, doctors and diagnosis. We continue to pray that all will be well with her and very soon.

Posted by Pastor Joelle at SKATING IN THE GARDEN:

My mother is 96 and dying. It's not going to be easy for her to die because she's healthy and tough. Too mean to die, that's my Mom. She's in California, I'm in Iowa. In a different story, I would fly out to see her before she dies and we would all have "closure" and no regrets. But that is not going to be our story. See, my mother never wanted me or any of her kids for that matter. She was a negative, critical, unhappy person. A little less than 20 years ago she kicked me out. "I can't stand you. Get out of my house" And I never went back. However, she will no die alone.

I've been sick since Sunday evening, with a particularly nasty and virulent virus, which left me totally helpless to look after myself.

Further details of our friend's ailment (which you will need a strong stomach to read) and the wonderful care he has received from his wife can be found on his blog.

From Facebook:

I understand that Dr. Pamela Chinnis has died. She was the first woman to serve as president of the House of Deputies of The Episcopal Church. May she rest in peace after a life well lived.

We pray for all those in the path of Hurricane Irene. Lord keep them safe!

Pray for our young men and women who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan, and for their families:

Pfc. Douglas L. Cordo, 20, of Kingston, New York
Lance Cpl. Travis M. Nelson, 19, of Pace, Florida

Pray also for the fallen heroes also of our coalition partners, and for the citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan who have died, unnamed and unknown to us, and for those who mourn ... and for an end to this endless war.

Priests in Harare (Zimbabwe) are being ordered out of church property by excommunicated bishop, Dr Nolbert Kunonga; (Kunonga, a close ally of Robert Mugabe, was excommunicated in 2007 and has since waged a campaign of intimidation against the Anglican Church in Zimbabwe). His supporters have already forced the Rev Dzikamai Mudenda, his wife and their extended family, to leave St James Mabvuku in Harare.

It comes just weeks after the high court (under Mugabe's control) ruled that Dr Kunonga had interim custody of all church properties, despite these belonging to the Church of the Province of Central Africa. Stamped copies of the high court judgement have been sent to priests living in parish rectories across the Diocese of Harare. In one case, police accompanied Dr Kunonga's supporters as they delivered the letter.

  2. Welcome to the World, Naomi Yin-Leng! 😀
