EVENING PRAYER: 15TH. AUGUST 2011FEAST OF THE DORMITION OF THE THEOTOKOS

MP3 File

O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Bless the Lord, O my soul.
O Lord my God, how excellent is your greatness!

You are clothed with majesty and honour,
wrapped in light as in a garment.

The sun knows the time for its setting.
You make darkness that it may be night.

O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

When you send forth your spirit, they are created,
and you renew the face of the earth.

May the glory of the Lord endure for ever;
may the Lord rejoice in his works;

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will make music to my God while I have my being.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning is now and shall be for ever. Amen.
OPENING PRAYER
PSALM 98
PSALM PRAYER
READING

I saw a new heaven and a new earth,
for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away and the sea was no more.

And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And I heard a great voice from the throne saying,
‘Behold, the dwelling of God is among mortals.

‘He will dwell with them and they shall be his peoples,
and God himself will be with them.

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes,
and death shall be no more.

‘Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more,
for the former things have passed away.’

And the One who sat upon the throne said,
‘Behold, I make all things new.’

To the One who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honour and glory and might, for ever and ever. Amen.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
and be not wise in your own sight.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
and be not wise in your own sight.

In all your ways acknowledge him
and he will make straight your paths.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
and be not wise in your own sight.
COLLECT
Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen.
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

  1. Unfortunately, St. Laika’s isn’t back yet due to the new upgrade from Mac not reading all my old trusted word processing programmes that I relied on to produce the text for TypePad. So, the words will appear on Blogger until I’ve worked out what to do.
