  1. Hey watch it MP! Are you saying Dawn didn’t look good before just because she was a morbidly obese fatso?

    No? Just as well.

But the picture of the lovely Dawn does show you that once you lose a lot of weight you may end up opening Pandora’s box.

  2. Actually, yes. She had got to a dangerous weight and was “looking good” in the way Bubba the Hut looked good. But then her rotten ex-husband was behaving in a way that would drive anyone to comfort eating. I’m glad she’s slimmed down to the weight she used to be and I’m glad she’s found herself a new lover.

  3. My heroine. Not just the Vicar of Dibley but Dawn herself.

Of course, I’ve modeled my persona as a vicar after Geraldine. So I guess it’s time to follow Dawn’s example. How many pounds american is 5 stone?

  4. Our pounds are the same – 16 ounces. 5 stone sounds much better.

oh no, the wv is: ainglite. Make of it what you want, y’all.

  5. “ainglite” is old English for “angel light.” It’s obviously an encouragement from the internet gods that you should embark on the diet you mention.

(Actually I made all that up).

  6. well good on her! funny how often losing a partner can make someone change their appearance. She looks great! (and she did before too..)
Like Lois, I love Dawn French too…
    red 🙂

  7. I am very happy that Dawn French is slimming down to a good weight. I hope that it benefits her health and inner well-being. We want her around, hale, and hearty for when “The Bishop of Dibley” is aired in a few years’ time.

  8. I’ve always thought she is one of the most beautiful women on tv regardless of what her weight was/is. I think there is a certain naughtiness in her eyes. If the weightloss aids her health then good on her, but it won’t alter her beauty.

  9. I agree MP. On the DVD I purchased a few years back – Kill Bill/Office parody stuff – she was badly overweight…

She looks fabulous here – and is hardly some svelt little eat grass model.

    As I said elsewhere…LOVE HER.

  10. I speak as “a morbidly obese fatso,” who is trying to lose weight. This is wonderful! I am proud of her for doing something she really needed to do. This is a move in the right direction for improved health and mobility.

I am also glad that she never seemed to lose out on roles because she was fat. It says something good about the Brit attitude that talent wins out over looks.

  11. I have deliberately not posted the “before” photos that are in some of our newspapers because it would have been bad mannered to do so. But it is obvious that all the nastiness involved in her splitting up from Lenny Henry (which, after over 25 years of marriage was awfully sad) had resulted in Dawn getting to the stage where she really had to do something or die.

Personally, I shall buy her diet plan as soon as it hits the bookshops. Knowing Dawn, it will no doubt involve a lot of burning calories by having lots of sex.

  12. I’d like to get back to my chemo weight, but I don’t want the cancer back in order to do it. Possibility I’m fighting some meds but they’ll be done in 18 months. Meanwhile, keep posting Loud Fridays and Odds and Sodds and With All Your Soul and such and I’ll do my part by dancing and giving up ice cream.

  13. Oh, Lois, I lost 100 lbs. pre-Chemo, and then started gaining when they told me Chemo might make me lose 10-15 pounds! Needless to say, I heard them say “you can eat anything you want. .” so I did. 😉

  14. I was told not to eat anything I wanted, especially during the taxol, with which they gave me steroids which made me ravenous! Well, I keep trying. Thanks, susan s.

Oh bloody ****, the wv is” trysph. Try what?!

  15. Lois, obviously we had different chemos! I have never experienced the thrill of steroids. From what I’ve heard from others, it’s not what I want to, either. But I look at it this way, we’re both sassy and pretty healthy, eh?

  16. Yes, Elizabeth, but not English enough I fear!!

BTW, MP, how about pretty sassy readers? I’m sure Lois and I fit that description along with a few others here at OCICBW!

  17. Kellogsville said, “I’ve always thought she is one of the most beautiful women on tv regardless of what her weight was/is. I think there is a certain naughtiness in her eyes. If the weightloss aids her health then good on her, but it won’t alter her beauty.”, and I couldn’t agree more!

  18. Pretty?
Everyone of OCICBW…’s readers, female and male, are totally babelicious. That is, except my trolls who are as ugly as sin.
