THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A FREE MASON

Check out Theo Hobson on Rowan Williams
and freemasonry at THE GUARDIAN.

This was my comment:

I would point out that I have great respect for the historical achievements of international freemasonry. But English freemasonry has always been primarily the Rotary Club with funny handshakes.

  1. Personally, I have serious doubts whether Masonic beliefs are compatible w/ Christianity (and, as y’all may remember my stance in the Kevin Thew Forrester debacle, that’s saying something!)

  2. You would have trouble finding a mason nowadays who knows what Masonic beliefs are. And the few you might find wouldn’t understand what they mean.

And if my mates, Dennis and Jay, say they are Christian and Masonic that’s good enough for me – the proof being in the eating, so to speak.

  3. What are “achievements of international Freemasonry”?
Do you know that there is another Brit, a catholic named Jamie Bogle who has a blog claiming that Masons in Latin America and Catholic/Latin Europe, have been behind most anti-catholic revolutions?

  4. Jamie Bogle is absolutely right. Of course, it wasn’t only the freemasons, many of the activists were not masons. But I personally believe that there would have been no French or American revolutions without freemasonry. So, without them there would be no democracy.

  5. His idea is that anything non-catholic has been a disaster for Latin America and that the Pope should have been left in control of most of Italy and that Ireland is only leaving the catholic church because it’s looking for an excuse to do so, not because It’s disgusted with child rapist clergy.
