THE PRAYER LIST – 2ND. FEBRUARY 2011

Posted at GAY MARRIED CALIFORNIAN:

The Iowa House today, by a vote of 62-37, passed an amendment (House Joint Resolution 6) that would deny any form of legal recognition for gay couples. The amendment seeks to prohibit not only the freedom to marry for gay couples, but also civil unions or domestic partnerships.

The bill now moves on to the Iowa Senate, where Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal has vowed to fight attempts to pass the amendment. If passed through both legislative bodies in two consecutive General Assemblies, the issue could be on the ballot as soon as 2013.

A bill repealing the New Hampshire's gay marriage law would use the same statute to prohibit both incest and same-sex marriage. Bates's bill lists the marriages that would be prohibited to all men and women. Besides same-sex partners, they include marriages to their children, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The bill states that any marriage recognized by New Hampshire before the adoption of the law would remain intact. But any same-sex marriage performed out of state after the law is passed - for example, a marriage performed in Massachusetts - would not be recognized as valid in New Hampshire.

IT's father passed away last night. Notes from her:

"I am currently stuck in Washington DC by the storm, and just found out that my dad died last night, unexpectedly. I will not be doing any blogging for a while. My wife is trying to get me a flight home and thence to the Bay Area to be with Mom. Expect me to be out of touch for a while."

From Viv:

I've got myself into a bit of a fix. I applied quite idly for a job yesterday, not imagining I was in with a chance. But within half an hour I'd got rung up about it and the short version is I have an interview tomorrow. Today I discover that there are only 2 other candidates, rather than 5. Sounds good.

But the problem is to do the job, I have to drive. And not only that, drive a large van on occasions. I have a phobia of driving. I really don't know what to do. I am in with a chance for the highest paying job I have ever had even a smidge of a chance at and am terrified that I will get it. I really thought I was punching way above my weight with this one and had not a single chance. It appears they singled my cv out.

Please pray for the right outcome and for courage. I am scared stupid now.

I have returned to therapy to face my final darkness. It is hard and scary work and difficult to write about here.

Work has become a nightmare with a major project about to die because they can no longer get financing for all the bullshit conditions that were imposed of them by the politicians. It has now become my job to go to all the people/groups who had their hands out and ask them for concessions. Some of these people are the scum of the earth, know they have the upper hand, and are just jerking me around. It is my responsibility to negotiate this project back on track but I’m really tired of falling on the sword for it.

At Facebook I had asked prayers for Nate. He is suddenly single, has been out of work for a while, and struggles with depression. He feels lost but he knows you lot will be praying for him.

I ask your prayers for Kathy who is looking for work.

I ask your prayers for my sister Shirley and her husband Jack. They are the ones in the car accident last week. Shirley had a upper GI today and her heart acted up, raced then slowed, so they admitted her. She is not doing well physically or emotionally right now.

THE PRAYER LIST – 2ND. FEBRUARY 2011 — 9 Comments

  1. Oh, IT. I am so very, very sorry.

You know (I’m sure you know) that you are greatly loved here. I’m certain that I speak for many when I say that we long to be able to be alongside you and comfort you as such is at all possible.

May your father rest in peace. May all who loved and cared for him be consoled and sustained.

Yes, you may be out of touch for a while. Do remember: we are here.

  2. I should also have said I’m really sorry to hear about IT’s father, especially because it was so unexpected. Prayers for all, particularly IT and her family.

  3. Prayers.

That North Am cold front reached us yesterday afternoon. It is currently 1°C (33°F) and heading for below zero over the next two nights and possible snow flurries Friday night. Millions in Monterrey do not have houses built for that type of weather. Most do not have heaters so they will be tempted to do stupid things to keep their families warm. Folks will die from the cold or doing the stupid things over the next few days!

  4. Well, update.
I got about a third of the way today when I got a call from the agency saying the company had cancelled the interview. I was at that stage about to get on the 2nd of 3 trains. I was asked if I would reschedule for Friday and I said I would call back when I got home and thawed out. Now, I speak to the agency and they tell me the company has changed its mind again and interviews are Friday morning, which is impossible for me to get to. Other issues have arisen, like its a 12 week contract and not a permanent job.
I have declined to go on Friday; I have already wasted £34 on train fares, and have no confidence they won’t do it again. The agency are cross with the company and are recommending that they do some prelim phone interviews as virtually none of the candidates can attend.
Someone somewhere is playing silly buggers.
I am feeling peaceful about it, though, thinking that what ever is meant to be jobwise will unfold. If this company is made up of inefficient jerks, then I am better off knowing now.
    thanks for the prayers.
ps wv is enstab. is this a sign??

  5. If this company is made up of inefficient jerks, then I am better off knowing now.

Oh, yes. Having escaped from the employ of the Church of England you don’t want to make the same mistake again.

  6. Prayers for all mentioned above. My thanks for prayers on behalf of my petitions.

I am so grateful for MP and this community.

  7. For the repose of the soul of IT’s dad.
