HEADLINE OF THE DAY

From THE NEEDHAM TIMES:

I'm sorry but this is just going too far for this Englishman. That two women want to get married and live together is a beautiful thing and I believe that the Church should bless their relationship. But now that their bishop has moved in with them we have, in my opinion crossed the line between what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. If the bishop wants that sort of arrangement he should leave TEC and join the Mormons where, I believe, there is a more accommodating attitude towards this sort of thing.

HEADLINE OF THE DAY — 6 Comments

  1. Being that the bishop is also a monk, he ain’t even having one (of any gender), much less two!

Mazel Tov to the happy couple (!), and God bless TEC! 😀

  2. Interestingly, both women are ecclesiastic big shots. One is canon to the ordinary in the Diocese and the other is Dean of Episcopal Divinity School. (That’s the same as Principle of a theological college to you Brits.)

I met Tom Shaw several times back in the day before he was bishop and was “just” superior of what we in the convent referred to as “The Cowley Boys”. He is an EXCELLENT preacher (rare thing in a bishop) and a careful and responsible thinker.

  3. It wasn’t very long ago that, had you told someone that the dean of the Episcopal Divinity School was marrying the Canon to the Ordinary, they would have said “But two men can’t get married!”
