MERRY CHRISTMAS IT AND NANCY P — 5 Comments

  1. How do we know it’s not a quail?

[Happy Secular, Scientific Xmas to all! Tell us again about the random astrophysical phenomenon appearing in the night sky 2000 years ago! ;-)]

  2. actually it does look like a quail, but in the interest of the story, I’ll call it a partridge.

When I lived in the UK I did not come back STateside for Christmas. I went to the local market and got fresh-shot local pheasant for my meal. Since the UK shuts down for days around the holiday, I sank into an indulgent haze of pheasant, good wine, and good things to watch on the telly. Of course, the fine seasonal malted beverages at the local pub (“winter warmers”) were also much appreciated.

The British “keep” Christmas far better than we do in the US.
