KNOW YOUR SAINTS – SPECIAL FEATURE

I recently received this image of the BVM from Bruce who refers to it in his accompanying email as
Our Lady of the CD.

However, Bruce is talking out of his rear end on this one. This is in fact a fine piece of stained glass representing
Our Lady of the Pineapple Ring.

I asked the man from Del Monte if I was correct in my attribution and he said, "Yes!"

  1. Re icon of “Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament”:

I know that, as a good Anglo-Catholic, I SHOULD be able to simultaneously consider 1) the Early Church Eating Jesus and 2) the BVM as a part of the Early Church . . . but when I consider “Mary Eating Jesus”, I blanche. ;-X

  2. One of the stranger iconographic images I’ve ever seen was at the Abbey of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, GA.

It was in a “primitive” style, and seemed to depict a Trappist monk standing next to either a beehive or a very large blancmange, while E. T. poked him in the back of the knee.
