I've gone a bit overboard on "St. Patrick's Breastplate" in the prayers at ST. LAIKA'S today. In the office itself there is a recording of the actual hymn performed by The City Of Birmingham Symphony Chorus (and performed rather nicely, as well). After the office you can listen to a instrumental jazz version of the tune played by The David Rees-Williams Trio. So, if you get through it all, you should be pretty well protected for the rest of the day (subject to the usual holy saints small print).

And the cat lovers among you simply must check out Ellie's latest post at THE ANCHORHOLD. Purrr!

  1. There is no such thing as “going overboard” on St. Patrick’s Breastplate. Since the whole hymn lasts longer than the average sermon at my church, I never get to sing it.
