But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you lock people out of the kingdom of heaven.

From ANGLICAN MAINSTREAM (15th. May 2010):

Today Bishops of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America (ECUSA) pray episcopal consecration prayers over the Revd Mary Glasspool, who lives in an openly same-sex relationship.

Today, St Lawrence Morden, in the Diocese of Southwark, together with other congregation members from the team parish, keeps a day of prayer on Leith Hill, Surrey. As well as confessing individual sin, they will mourn the passing of the Anglican Communion as it has been. They will celebrate the emergence of a renewed communion, led by the large majority of Anglicans in the Global South, and intercede over the response to ECUSA’s action, by Archbishop Rowan Williams and other Church of England Bishops. We will give thanks for the unity of our Diocese maintained by recently retired Bishop, Tom Butler. We call on Anglican churches around the world to pray with us, over the appointment of the next Bishop of Southwark.

  1. That’s not my Tom Butler.

All who attended the ceremony had to run the gauntlet of the haters, Phelps & clan and others. Two shouting protesters inside were quietly escorted out.

  2. Mimi – that just makes my heart sink that the Phelps clan etc turned up. Always so keen to stamp their hating mark on occasions like this.

  3. Dah-veed, they love being given attention, those Phelpses. That’s actually the whole point as far as I can see.

(“The Phelps inbreeders”!! Shouldn’t be funny but it is.)

  4. I’d forgotten that Long Beach Pride was happening at the same time.
The advantage of being on the other side of the country from CA is that I could feel light and joyous and happy about the occassion. Because it is a good and right and joyful thing!!
And that’s what makes all the nay-sayers and the Phelps inbreeders look like the twisted twits that they are!

  5. Ah – The loves at Anglican Mainstream….

They recently called for a boycot of Greenbelt as Peter Tatchell is taking part.

Since then Greenbelt has seen record ticket sales…….

  6. I think you don’t understand the orthodite message:

“God loves everybody! That’s why He insists they be just like me!”

They heard about the Great I Am, and just left off the “Am.”
