THE MIDNIGHT JUKEBOX

The sound on this new album from the French, Naïve Record Label, is absolutely scrumptious. And the playing is well wicked as well. If I was Vivaldi I don't think I would have called it "Concertos For Queers" as that sort of thing can get you into a lot trouble if you work for the Church. But, you've got to admire his attitude.

THE MIDNIGHT JUKEBOX — 9 Comments

  1. It is very clever MP. It’s a pun bassoon players and lovers of bassoon players can love!

Not bad playing either(translate as high praise). And on early instruments!!! Good on you on all counts, MP

  2. Wonderful stuff–and I’m like you when it comes to classical music (and pretty much all other kinds of music).

  3. Listening to my daughter practice for full band concerts, I remember hearing bom, bom, bom. Bom, bom, bom, bom, bom. And then she’d get to play a few bars, with, at times, rather long stretches in between when she had to read the music so as not to miss her cue to come in. I was nervous at concerts, hoping that she was not day-dreaming during the times she didn’t play.

  4. The bassoon is really a lovely instrument, as are almost all reed instruments. Its precursor was an item about the size and shape of a 2# coffee tin, with all that tubing stuffed inside and with holes all over the thing, in no particular logical order. It is buzzy, and appropriately named the “rackett”.
