Depression can be beautiful.

Maya Beiser is an American cellist who lives in New
York City. She was raised on a kibbutz in Israel by
her French mother and Argentine father, and graduated

She has been known for her virtuosity, her unusual
concert presentations and her eclectic repertoire.
She has collaborated with composers Louis Andriessen,
Tan Dun, Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Osvaldo Golijov,
Steve Reich, Simon Shaheen, and David Lang among
many others. She was the founding cellist of the new

  1. Dayum, I’d like to make beautiful music w/ her. *THUD!*

[If I need to convert? Jesus, Schmesus! *LOL*]

  2. Gorgeous. I must hear more. 🙂

    Thank you, dear MadPriest.

… While listening, I thought. “Wouldn’t it be something for her to perform with Lisa Gerrard …” There’s a haunting / haunted quality that links the two artists in my mind’s ear …

  3. Had this playing while reading about the history of Laika.

I strongly suggest you seek counselling immediately, TinyT 🙂

  4. Because of my reaction to the music or because of my reaction to the story of the little dog (who looks like it could be the great great great great…etc…grandmother my little dogs)? :oD

Oh wait, or is it because I’ve started reading this blog ;o)

  5. Because, after listening to this music whilst reading about Laika, I think it would be prudent to put you on suicide watch immediately 🙂

But, you’re right, starting to read this blog would indicate that you are already a nutter. Welcome to the asylum.
