THE CARROT OF CHRIST

From UPI.COM:

MIGORI, Kenya -- An Anglican clergyman in Kenya said
members of his congregation who don't have voting cards
will no longer be offered holy communion. Canon Walter
Okeyo of the Migori Parish told a voter registration
workshop organized by the Civil Society Organization
that members of his church will have to obtain voter
identification cards before they can receive communion.

"It will be a condition in my church that you first show

me your voter's card before receiving holy communion,"
he told the meeting.

  1. I understood that this goof is not anti-immigrant but rather is trying to get people to vote. Besides who in their right mind would want to immigrate to Central Africa?

So the Arizona comparison may be slightly unfair. On the other hand, if we can send the Arizona guns to their next house of bishops meeting……

  2. Someone seems to have skipped the seminary lesson on “Rendering to Caesar what is Caesar’s” etc.

  3. Oh, dear. Cannon Walter Okeyo appears to be the poster child for “Didn’t Quite Get the Point.”

  4. *Facepalm*

I wish people would stop holding Communion hostage. My biggest gripe with the church, I think, is that officially there are still barriers (even if some people do have an open table).
