IN WHICH MADPRIEST FALLS OFF HIS CHAIR

From the comments to MADPRIEST'S QUESTION OF THE DAY:

Laurel Massé (http://profile.typepad.com/6p00d83499cd2669e2) has left a new comment on your post "MADPRIEST'S QUESTION OF THE DAY":

Are we? Thank you, dear Mad Priest.
And blessings,
Laurel Masse

Laurel Masse was in The Manhattan Transfer when they were good (1972-1978), before they got all poppy. With the exception of Doug Blanchard she is the most famous person to have commented at OCICBW... Yes, even more famous than that bloke out of After The Fire.

And I'm sorry Grandmère Mimi and Fluffysnuggles, you've both lost main squeeze status. MadPriest is in love with another.

Now, if Alan would like to get in touch, everyone at OCICBW... will be happy.

Oh, and by the way, Laurel is still out there singing her socks off like a good un. Check out HER WEBSITE for more info and lots more photographs.

This is just too much. I think I need a cup of java and a sit down.

  1. I’m crushed, but I’ll try to bear up. If it’s a question of looks, what can I do but plead nolo contendere?

Sorry. I messed up and deleted my previous comment.

  2. Well, okay, Doug. You are not like A list celebrity famous (or, let’s face it, C list celebrity famous). But for a long time you were the best we could come up in the famous patron stakes and I’m not going to ditch you now I’m hobnobbing with the stars. That would be disloyal.

  3. Doug can’t be Z list if he was the most famous person in the neighbourhood. The worst he can be is Y list with the rest of us being Z list. And what about your brush with national celebrity? That makes Doug at least X list.

  4. Jonathan, read my comment again. I did not say Doug was z-list to the rest of the world. I said even if he was, which is not the same as saying that he is.

And your brush with celebrity in the Times doesn’t count?

Neither of our brushes with celebrity seem to have changed much of anything for us. Sic transit gloria mundi.

  5. I have to agree, Laurel is babelicious. That picture really gives my weary heart a lift. Glad she is a fan, MP!

  6. If I read the same blog as a beautiful, famous person, does that qualify me for ‘Y’ List status?

  7. {Suddenly tongue-tied in the presence of beauty & talent}

[Yes, yes, MP: you’re beautiful and talented too. In your way.]

  8. In reading her website she appears to be one of us.

No. I don’t think she’s Mexican, Dah-veed. Going by her name I guess she is of French extraction.
