  1. While Rembert shouldn’t have paid diocesan hush-money to his lover, the fact that his boyfriend was actually an adult was what was so incomprehensible/unforgiveable to Rome.

  2. I’m with RevBoy – Roman is infamous for protecting the institutional church above EVERYTHING else, and Pope’s don’t ride horses they can conveniently fall off of anymore and poisoning is so tacky – Pope is God’s choice as the leader of Rome and um, he’s there for life.

  3. I realize that the focus of the story is Ratzinger’s inaction. But what jumps out at me is that, in all those years, Weakland and everyone else never called in the police. In the interview, Weakland sounds so calm, so serene, as he recounts what he did and didn’t do.

They really believed they were above the law, and, for many decades, they were.

I’m *LOL* (though I’m embarrassed about it)

    poisoning is so tacky

Tell that to JP1! (So they say? O_o)

  5. I’m not religious. I come here for the music 😉 and I’m with Paul – why would any self-respecting anything want to go more Roman?
