From ALISON:
Surgery has repaired my brother's left leg, but his right leg is so badly crushed it will have to be amputated above the knee. He is still sedated, but knows what is happening. After the amputation surgery tomorrow we hope he will be out of intensive care by next week.
This is horrible and it's frightening and it will be painful. But, praise the Lord, Elliott is alive. I watched a programme on TV last year about a man, roughly Elliott's age, who climbed Mount Everest with both his legs amputated. So, we pray that Elliott does not become despondent or depressed, that his recovery is quick and that he actually lives a more fulfilling life because of what he is going through now. And we pray for Alison and all Elliott's friends and family, that they too will not become despondent or depressed and that God gives them the strength to help them support Elliott and each other.
Sincere prayers offered for Elliott and everyone who cares about him.
Oh my, Alison. I am so sorry. I’ll pray that all goes well with the surgery and that Elliott will not become despondent. I’ll pray for your family, too.
Amen and amen.
Prayers commencing.
You never know; he might be able to eventually get a prosthetic and be able to walk. It could happen.
Prayers ascending. Holy Luke, patron of healers, pray with us, Holy Raphael who has healed, pray with us.

Prayers for Elliott and all who love him!

Alison, my 79 year old father had a leg amputation in September and he’s already walking again needing only a stick for the most time.
Your brother should be ok, at least physically.
Prayers.
Hard and horrible stuff to face – I can only imagine. Prayers for courage, strength, patience and endurance for all involved.
Thank you so much, everyone. The plan is for him to get a prosthetic, and he should be able to walk, drive, etc. again after rehab.
Depression runs in our family, and his being a minister compounded the problem (right, MP?), so he’s been on anti-depressants for decades. However, we will certainly be alert for any negative changes in his attitude. Right now we are simply profoundly grateful he is still alive.
